Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance

Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) is available through us for selected Travel Agents to protect their liability to the fare paying public travelling on a scheduled flight anywhere in the world.

Where a Travel Agent who is an ATOL Licence holder accepts payments for flights from a passenger (whether direct or via an agent) and issues an ATOL confirmation invoice, the passenger is the responsibility of the Travel Agent regardless of whether tickets have been issued.

Should the airline operating the flights fail, the Travel Agent will be required to provide alternative flights or a refund.

While retaining responsibility for passengers, Travel Agents are able to take out Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) to cover this risk.

The cover provided therefore enables a Travel agent to claim back the cost of a refund of the ticket or providing an alternative flight should an airline be unable to fulfil its obligation to its passengers due to financial failure, prior to the them travelling or enables a Travel Agent to claim back the cost of providing a return ticket in the event that the passenger is outside the U.K. at the time of the financial failure occurring.

Scheduled Airline Failure is therefore a very a cost effective means for Travel Agents to protect their liability to their customers.
